Land Day 2024 Palestine: In 1976 it was 6 unarmed farmers murdered by Israeli forces, this year it is more than 32,704 + Palestinian people murdered by Israeli forces, mostly women & children have been killed

"We have on this earth what makes life worth living"Mahmoud Darwish

Every year on March 30, Palestinians observe Land Day, or Yom al-Ard, recalling the events of March 30, 1976, when six unarmed Palestinians were killed and more than 100 injured by Israeli forces during protests against Israel’s confiscation of Palestinian land.

Israel has continued to seize large swaths of Palestinian land, designating them as military zones, state land and other labels.  https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/3/30/land-day-what-happened-in-palestine-in-1976

Settlements – illegal under international law – are Jewish-only communities built on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

48 years on and we are witnessing the continuation of this with Israeli attempts at ethnically cleansing Gaza by genocide. #ceasefireNOW

Today we mark the 48th anniversary of #LandDay.

Israel’s colonialism never abated and in the occupied West Bank, it has got only worse since 7 Oct 2023:

27,000 acres of land seized

There are 840 checkpoints and barriers aimed at disrupting the Palestinian right to movement

25 Bedouin communities were displaced from their lands

9,600 olive trees uprooted

Today is #LandDay in Palestine and I managed to get a text from my younger brother Tareq for the 1st time since the Israeli genocide started. His house got bombed in Jabalia and he is now in Rafah in a tent, still hoping to return to the North  #Gaza

BDS worldwide- for Palestine  @BDSmovement On the 48th anniversary of Land Day, let’s not just commemorate Israel’s past crimes, but also fight to end its ongoing #GazaGenocide as well as its ongoing Nakba, and, most importantly, to ultimately dismantle its underlying apartheid.

In 1948 Israel could have chosen to include all indigenous Arabs- Christian and Muslim- as part of the process to make a real democracy for all human beings, but Zionists did the opposite by creating a huge refugee crisis.

Old PHOTO: Palestine, 1948. Refugees [try to] return to their village after surrendering in the war against Israel. The conflict forced 85 percent of the Palestinian population living in what became Israel to leave their homes. Their right to return was writen into a U.N. resolution that year, but 65 years later this issue has yet to be resolved.

Dear President Biden,

It is villainous for American leadership to empower Israel's ongoing quest to ethnically cleanse the Holy Land from the river to the sea.

Israel is a cruel war machine: We should not be arming and enabling Israel's violations of international law and basic human rights.

Every IDF soldier and Zionist settler is forced to look back knowing their crimes against humanity. They have to live with themselves either by feeling remorse & soul crushing guilt, OR by finding solace in a boundless DENIAL that what Israel has been doing to the native non-Jewish Palestinians is absolutely wicked and wrong.

Denial is a major component of Israeli life and public relations as Zionists seek to gather funds and support from individuals and governments every where and in every way worldwide. Our Congress and our national newspapers are pawns for racist Israel as they foolishly foster monstrous misinformation provided by the nefarious agents of a foreign country.

I abhor HAMAS, but please start noticing that for the past 100 years Zionists have set the example of arming religion and using terrorism to gain land and political power. Israel wants HAMAS to thrive, to demonize and further undermine Palestinians' quest for real freedom, justice, and true democracy.

In 1948 Israel could have chosen to include all indigenous Arabs- Christian and Muslim- as part of the process to make a real democracy for all human beings, but Zionists did the opposite by creating a huge refugee crisis.

Air dropping food to the starving people trapped in Gaza while also arming Apartheid Israel with lethal weaponry, money AND a green light to further impoverish and displace Palestinian men, women and children is a PR stunt.  A more honorable and helpful way forward is to PLEASE RESTORE FUNDING TO UNWRA ...

& Please STOP FUNDING ISRAEL for everyone's sake.

Sincerely,

Anne Selden Annab

Every nation that has divested funding from UNWRA is complicit in the starvation of human beings... and the torture of children

Our beloved "friend" Israel has been actively oppressing, demonizing, impoverishing, and displacing the native non-Jewish people of historic Palestine and has been since 1948.

Dear President Biden: Stop racist hate- start by stopping Israeli violence, and the Zionist stranglehold on your brain.

                                           Can you see her?
 Dear President Biden

American newspapers tend to simply reprint Israeli propaganda, exasperating a cruel situation and ignoring the very real plight and suffering of the native non-Jewish men, women and children of historic Palestine.  In response, many people, especially younger smarter people, aren't really bothering with America's mainstream newspapers- they are getting a plethora of Pro-Palestine news and opinion online through web sites, and through social media sites.

American leadership is idiotic to stew in Zionist news and opinion, rather than seeking out the full and total truth.  Open your eyes, your mind and your heart.  Humanity needs honorable leadership- and a CEASEFIRE NOW !

76 years ago, following the horrors of the Nazi Holocaust, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was born "Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world..."

60 years ago America's Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended segregation in public places and banned employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. This is considered one of the crowning legislative achievements of our collective civil rights movement.

So why exactly are you forcing American tax payers to fund and empower Israel's segregation policies and Apartheid in The Holy Land?

Why are you arming Israel's destruction of Gaza?

Stop racist hate- start by stopping Israeli violence, and the Zionist stranglehold on your brain.

Sincerely,

The violence in Gaza may have started on October 7, 2023 for Israel and for the world. But for Palestinians it started 75 years ago, and never stopped.

My Palestinian mother is 79 years old. She grew up in Jerusalem. Seventy-five years ago, she was 4 years old, and Israel drove her, her family, and all of her village out of their homes, which they would never see again. They became part of the Palestinian diaspora.

During the attack on Kharrouba, my mother’s village, she was asleep and when everyone fled, she was left behind. My grandfather walked for 16 hours, risking his life, to find her. That trauma still marks every day of my mother’s life.

Kharruba, her town of origin, was one of more than 400 Palestinian towns and villages that were either depopulated violently or destroyed after Palestine was torn up and Israel came into being on May 14, 1948.... READ MORE  https://www.thenation.com/article/world/palestine-gaza-children-peace/

All I want for Christmas is a Right of Return FREE PALESTINE

In 1948, in response to the mass displacement and forced exile of the native non-Jewish men, women and children of historic Palestine, the United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution 194, including paragraph 11 which provides, in part, that:

…the [Palestinian] refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbors should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or in equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible.

Resolution 194 endorsed the right of Palestinian refugees to choose whether to repatriate to what is now Israel or to be resettled elsewhere, and codified the accepted principles of customary international law. It has been reaffirmed by the General Assembly every year since its adoption.

The right of return for all refugees also is well-established under other international law, including:

  • The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (adopted in 1948): “Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country” (Art. 13(2)).

Donia had lost her parents and two siblings in an earlier Israeli air strike on her family home.  She was getting treatment in the Naser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis because she lost her leg in a that Israeli strike on her family home in Gaza.

This young girl and her family deserved to live, to love, to laugh and run and be free. Instead they were trapped in Gaza- victims of Israel's genocidal war on Palestine.

My elderly relatives first fled for their lives in 1948. In Gaza right now they are walking the Nakba again- Ghada Ageel in The Guardian

Their story is that of thousands of other Palestinians: forced to move time and time again, their homes lost or destroyed

 https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/dec/14/a-second-nakba-in-gaza

A friend sent me a cartoon this week. It showed two elderly gentlemen sitting in comfortable chairs. One says to the other: “Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.” “Yes,” agrees the other gentleman, “and those who do study history are doomed to stand by helplessly while everyone else repeats it.”

In the case of the heartbreaking devastation in my home town of Khan Younis, this seems like an especially cruel joke. Witnessing this genocide unfolding, I find myself failing to find much to laugh at.

My brother-in-law, Abu Issam, 88, and his wife, Um Issam, 84, are originally from Swafeer. The village no longer exists. It was obliterated, with more than 500 Palestinian towns and villages, in the 1948 Nakba, the mass expulsion of Palestinians from their homes and lands after the creation of Israel.

Abu Issam with his niece Ghaida Hamdan in Khan Younis camp.
Fleeing the destruction in Swafeer in 1948, Abu Issam sought refuge in the nearby village of Hamama. When Hamama also came under attack, the family continued their journey to the Palestinian town of al-Sdud (present-day Isdud), then to al-Majdal (present-day Ashkelon), then to Beit Hanoun in the Gaza Strip, finally ending up in Khan Younis refugee camp.

Back then, Abu Issam was about to become a teenager. Today he walks with a stick, slowly, stopping for rest, then slowly again. And yet his future remains as uncertain today as it was in 1948.

Already very densely populated, Khan Younis had become a sanctuary for those fleeing bombing in the north of Gaza – only for the offensive to follow them there.... READ MORE

Crucial progress in human history is being swatted away by Biden's bungling and blundering Israel first perspective... my letter to my elected officials here in America

US VETO   by @yassindraws
 Dear President Biden.

“Were there no Israel, there wouldn’t be a Jew in the world that is safe” Joe Biden- current President of the United States, celebrating Hanukkah at the White House this week by promising Israel more "military assistance"...

So the hell with American law, our Bill of Rights, our separation of church from state, and generations of brave and valiant civil rights work here in America so that these United States can become a more real democracy with more freedom, justice, jobs, respect and true equality for all people regardless of supposed race or religion ?!!!

What about all the good and decent people who died in WWII to stop the Nazi Holocaust or because of the Nazi Holocaust. And what about the 1948 creation of The United Nations and The Universal Declaration of Human Rights!

Crucial progress in human history is being swatted away by Biden's bungling and blundering Israel first perspective.

I object to forcing all Jews world wide to be part of Israel and Israel's demented war on the native non-Jewish men, women and children of historic Palestine.

I object to a person's apparent religion shaping citizenship rights, and I object to arming religion and religious "scholars" with tax payer's money and lethal weaponry.

I object to crimes against humanity, I object to HAMAS, and I object to Israeli violence and Apartheid.

I object to racism and America's idiotic VETO of a ceasefire to stop the genocide in Gaza.

Oh and when you deploy the word anti-Semitic, start noticing that Semites include all who spoke or speak Semitic languages- technically including both Arabs and Jews.

Sincerely,

Anne Selden Annab
