“I really can’t believe that something like this can happen in the world without a bigger outcry about it.... This has to stop. I think it is a good idea for us all to drop everything and devote our lives to making this stop.” Rachel Corrie, subsequently killed by an Israeli bulldozer, as she nonviolently tried to prevent it from demolishing the home of a Palestinian doctor in Rafah refugee camp. RE The Monitor's View: Israeli response to teen murders. Calls for revenge are particularly strong after Israelis learn of three teens killed on the West Bank. But the response to this violence calls for cool intelligence and higher concepts of justice.

Dear Editor,
I like that you have a "What'd we miss? Tell us what angles to cover next."
Obviously the editorial "Israeli response to teen murders" pleading for restraint was written to appeal to Israelis and their supporters... but at least you did include reference to a very admirable man, the Palestinian Izzeldin Abuelaish who did what he could to break the cycle of revenge killings: "In recent decades, a few Israelis and Palestinians have tried to end that cycle. A famous example came in 2009 after three children of a well-known Palestinian doctor, Izzeldin Abuelaish, were killed by Israeli jets in Gaza. On Israeli TV, the father renounced any desire for revenge. He later wrote a book, “I Shall Not Hate.”"
All in all I think there were many details regarding the very real plight and suffering of the Palestinians ignored by your editorial. Did you do that because you do not know or understand how many Palestinian children Israel kills; how many Palestinian homes Israel demolishes day after day, year after year, decade after decade; how much Palestinian land Israel usurps; how many Palestinian men, women and children Israel imprisons; how many trees Israel's settlers in the illegally occupied territories uproot; how many international laws Israel breaks; how many Palestinian refugees have been pushed into forced exile and refused their inalienable right to return to original homes and lands to live in peace ...etc... or did you do that because you know the situation is dire and very dangerous and so you put all you could into trying to stop Israelis from becoming even more brutal and cruel?
Sincerely,
Anne Selden Annab
