end a prisoners hunger strike was agreed, in the West Bank city of
Ramallah May 14, 2012. Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike agreed a deal
with Israel on May 14 to end their fast in return for an easing of their
conditions, officials on both sides said. Most of the 1,550 prisoners
had stopped eating for up to four weeks to demand better conditions. Nakba, or catastrophe, marks Israel's founding in 1948 war, when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled or were forced to leave their homes.
