The Palestinian death toll from Israel’s ongoing offensive on the Gaza Strip has surged since last October to 35,034 people, the Health Ministry in the besieged enclave said on Sunday, Anadolu Agency reports.

At least 78,755 other people have been injured in the onslaught, the ministry added in a statement.

“Israeli attacks killed 63 people and injured 114 others in the last 24 hours,” the statement said.

“Many people are still trapped under rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

Israel has waged a brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas last Oct. 7 which killed some 1,200 people.

Tel Aviv has also imposed a crippling blockade on the Gaza Strip, leaving its population, particularly residents of northern Gaza, on the verge of starvation.

More than seven months into the conflict, vast swathes of Gaza lay in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). An interim ruling in January said it is “plausible” that Tel Aviv is committing genocide in Gaza, ordering it to stop such acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.

South Africa on Friday asked the ICJ to order Israel to withdraw from the southern city of Rafah, where more than 1.5 million displaced people have been sheltered, as part of additional emergency measures over the war.

 Extremist Israelis stormed occupied East Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque complex on Wednesday, under the protection of Israeli police.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that they numbered in the hundreds, and carried out rituals at site, the third holiest in Islam.

It comes after around 172 Israeli extremists raided the site and performed rituals on Monday, according to Wafa.

Under a longstanding status-quo agreement, prayer at Al-Aqsa is reserved for Muslims.

While Al-Aqsa is a highly revered holy site for Muslims, Jews consider the complex the most sacred site in their religion, believing it to be the location of their two ancient temples.

Many Israeli extremists seek to either divide Al-Aqsa between Jews and Muslims in terms of time and space available, or to replace the mosque with a new temple.

Al-Aqsa is located in the Old City, part of occupied East Jerusalem.

Israeli authorities and settlers seek to strip East Jerusalem of its Palestinian Muslim and Christian character and turn it into a Jewish-Israeli area.

Palestinians view the city's eastern sector, which Israel illegally annexed in 1980 after capturing it in 1967, as the capital of their future independent state.

Almost the entire international community rejects Israel's annexation and sovereignty claims over Jerusalem.

Across East Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied West Bank, there are more than 700,000 Israeli illegal settlers.

The construction and expansion of settlements are aimed at taking over Palestinian territory.

Settlements breach international law and are considered a key barrier to a workable two-state solution as they carve up Palestinian land.

Al-Aqsa is the holiest Muslim site in Palestine, followed by the Ibrahimi Mosque in the West Bank city of Hebron.

The Ibrahimi Mosque has been split into two parts – one side remains for Muslims while the other was transformed into Jewish space.

The site was the location of a massacre in 1994, when Israel-American extremist Baruch Goldstein opened fire on Muslim worshippers, killing 29 people.

A further 125 people [Palestinians] were also wounded in the attack.

First the Bedouin shepherd family spotted the truck, then the five armed men dressed in white. Then the gunfire started.

Israeli settlers, drawn to another shepherd’s flock grazing in the valley 200 yards below, fired what appeared to be M16 rifles in the air and toward the shepherd.

Only weeks before, the Al Araareh family was driven off their land and lost half their possessions. Settlers destroy 700 olive tree saplings near Ramallah

NABLUS (Ma'an) – Extremist settlers destroyed over 700 newly planted olive tree saplings north of Ramallah on Wednesday, a Palestinian Authority official said.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors settlement activity in the northern West Bank, told Ma'an that a group of settlers from the illegal outpost of Ade Ad carried out the attack.

Over 700 saplings belonging to Mahmoud and Rabah Hizma were either uprooted or broken in the al-Sadir area in Turmusayya.

An identity card belonging to one of the perpetrators was found at the scene.

Settlers routinely attack Palestinians and their property to intimidate local communities to leave their land.

Israel's army is often present during attacks and rarely intervenes to protect Palestinians from settler violence.
