Palestinians celebrate resolution
The U.N. General Assembly approved an upgraded
U.N. status for the Palestinian Authority on Nov. 29, despite intense opposition
from the United States and Israel. More than 130 countries voted and the resolution elevates their status
to "non-member observer state," which
Palestinians hope will provide leverage in their dealings with
Israel.
