Dear America - Please stop funding and fueling Israel's wars and the ongoing destruction of historic Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria... and Iran.

https://x.com/nakedpastor

letter I just sent my elected leaders

Dear America,

Life is not a Hollywood movie or a video game where sides are clear and "The End" means it is actually over:  Real life is quite complex, interconnected, and ongoing...  In real life there is no "The End" until all life on earth is gone.

The rule of fair and just laws, as well as charity for those in need, helps protect our planet and our future- for everyone's sake.

Operation Epic Fury makes America look bad- and be bad.

We should know better. We should be better.

After the horrors and widespread devastation of WWII, the world came together to form the United Nations & the Universal Declaration of Human Rights... Universal means inclusive- including everyone, even people you do not like or understand.

International law combined with diplomacy and dialogue won the day in 1945, shaping more prosperity & security for more and more people worldwide for decades.

That was then- this in now:  Idolizing Israel and/or war is not good for anyone- except for the political racketeers, religious fraudsters, and corporate scoundrels who profit from greed and corruption.

Tyranny and injustice are on the rise right here in America, and all that our forefathers fought to help think through and build is at risk.

The preemptive demolition of the East Wing of our White House foreshadows our democracy's fate and future if we don't change course ASAP.

Please stop funding and fueling Israel's wars and the ongoing destruction of historic Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria... and Iran.

Our taxes should be used for the greater good of more people- not for escalating war and cruelty.  The people's needs here at home, and the people's needs globally should be our highest priority.

We are all in this together, regardless of what language we speak, or where we live and dream.

Sincerely,

Anne Selden Annab

Israel’s settlement expansion drives mass displacement in West Bank [Palestine] – United Nations report 17 March 2026

Israel is using the ongoing war to intensify multi-layered violations against Palestinians during Ramadan and Easter. Al-Aqsa stands empty. The Holy Sepulchre is sealed for the first time in history. Demolitions, settler attacks, and movement restrictions are surging.

Joe Kent, Trump's counterterrorism chief, resigns, blaming members of the media, as well as high-ranking Israeli officials and lobbyists, for prompting Trump to abandon his America First agenda.

Trump’s Iran war has cost Americans at least $11bn already. And that’s just the start- That $11.3bn doesn’t include any estimate of repairing facilities or replacing losses.- Arwa Mahdawi

Mark S. Singel: "This war is illegal and unconstitutional. It is raining death and destruction on countless innocent civilians who are simply in the way. The war is draining America of resources and costing families billions of dollars in higher prices and declining pension accounts. But it may be worse than that. It may be the beginning of a cycle of destruction caused by the deranged vision of one man. "

"There is a reason Jesus spoke Aramaic rather than Sacred Hebrew. Hebrew was the language of the Temple and of the High Priest; it carried prestige and authority. Greek was the language of administration and of the empire. But He chose to speak Aramaic, the language of ordinary men." Camila Rocha

Harvesting Olives in the West Bank, in Photos For 7,000 years, the tradition has been a lifeline for Palestinians. Now, it’s under siege [by Israeli Settlers]...

Do Not Let Palestinian Christians Become a Memory of the Past: The last entirely Christian village in the West Bank, Taybeh, east of Ramallah, has been enduring a wave of attacks and intimidation by Israeli settlers. Hostile acts include setting fire to agricultural lands, cars and the walls of an ancient church, hateful and threatening graffiti, livestock released into the village, not to mention the numerous military checkpoints at the entrances to the town.

“War does not solve problems — on the contrary, it amplifies them and inflicts deep wounds on the history of nations that take generations to heal.” - Pope Leo XIV renewing his call for diplomacy and commitment to peace: “Let diplomacy silence the weapons; let nations shape their future through works of peace, not through violence and bloody conflict.”

The Voice of Hind Rajab, a film about a five-year-old Palestinian girl killed by Israeli forces in Gaza in 2024, has been nominated for best international feature film... Palestinian actor, Motaz Malhees, who plays the role of a call center operator attempting to help the girl, can’t attend Oscars because of US travel ban

Torture doesn’t create safety: it produces pain, trauma, and hatred. When people deprived of their liberty are abused, society loses its humanity. Torture is always illegal, immoral, and never justified.

MIFTAH: In Gaza, bearing witness has become a deadly act. Those who document the truth are targeted, while the world fails to hold Israel accountable for its crimes.

So the State Department used an emergency authority to give Israel $650 million in 500lb, 1000lb, and Small Diameter bombs. What happens next?

LET AID INTO GAZA: People in Gaza are still living in dire conditions while humanitarian aid is being blocked. On 28 February, the Israeli authorities closed all crossings into the Gaza Strip, raising concerns about food security and fuel supplies needed to sustain humanitarian operations. Although one, at Kerem Shalom, was partially reopened, the others remain closed. UNRWA has never stopped working even if its aid supplies have been blocked for over a year. But we need to be allowed to scale up.

The Art of Occupied Palestine... Palestinian artists: Fedaa Boqaileh & Ibrahim Hazimeh & Rawan Anani & Khaled Al-Maazi & Shehab Kawasmi

It’s time to invest in the architecture of peace, not the tools of war. That means living up to disarmament obligations. Rebuilding trust. And strengthening the systems and tools that prevent the proliferation, testing and use of deadly weapons. Together, we can prevent catastrophes and ensure a safe and peaceful world for all.

Assal Rad- Good reminder: The language of manufacturing consent:

Under the cover of war, the cooperation between the military and Israeli settler militias is deepening the ethnic cleansing of the West Bank. This is what has been happening on the ground since the start of the Israeli-American offensive in Iran

Fr. Gabriel Romanelli, parish priest of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza, says the ongoing border closures have pushed civilians “to the limit of their strength.” With no electricity, scarce water, unaffordable food, and medical evacuations blocked, he warns: “We cannot go on like this. It is not humane.”

"The war launched against Iran by the United States and Israel is a war of choice and of hubris. There is scarcely even the pretence that it was compelled by evidence of an Iranian dash for a bomb or an imminent attack. Such claims do not survive scrutiny; they barely withstand repetition. We are witnessing the realisation of a long-cherished ambition, a neoconservative fever dream that Benjamin Netanyahu has lobbied for, in one form or another, for decades." Eskandar Sadeghi-Boroujerdi

Spain’s MEP Irene Montero: “No woman has ever been freed by American bombs or illegal aggression. Not in Syria. Not in Iraq. Not in Lebanon. Not in Afghanistan. And it will not happen in Iran either. They hide behind women’s rights to justify their colonial wars.”

“The Middle East has become the deadliest place in the world: - to be a medical worker - to be a humanitarian - to be a UN team member - to be a journalist & one of the deadliest to be a civilian. This cannot be normalised. International humanitarian law matters. Accountability matters.” Philippe Lazzarini of UNRWA

B'Tselem: Since 10 October 2025, when the so-called ceasefire was announced, the Israeli army have killed 631 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The international community is enabling Israel’s policies and the ongoing genocide. The genocide in Gaza is not over.

The consequences of urban warfare cannot easily be reversed. Under international humanitarian law, parties to conflict must take all feasible precautions to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.

"US military commanders have been invoking extremist Christian rhetoric about biblical “end times” to justify involvement in the Iran war to troops, according to complaints made to a watchdog group..."

‘We’ll run out of food this week’: Israel’s Iran war brings new Gaza siege: “I don’t have enough money to buy and store food before prices increase, as some others have done,” said Um Mohammed Hijazi, a 49-year-old mother of five. The family home was destroyed in the war and they were displaced five times.

Christianity has been central to Palestine’s political imagination, cultural production and moral vocabulary. It is precisely this reality that Israel and its Christian Zionist patrons seek to obscure

Dear America- War and terrorism are for tyrants, not for freedom or justice. Bully tactics teach all the wrong lessons.

Billionaires want Ballrooms. The rest of us want clean water; safe neighborhoods; good schools, libraries, & museums; National Parks; playgrounds; PBS; good job opportunities for ourselves and our children; affordable heath-care; AND PEACE.

Funding and arming terrorism and violence is evil and wrong: America should not be funding, arming, defending, or trusting today's Israel in any way, shape or form.

A barbaric new era has already begun as Americans are duped into being wage slaves for billionaires who have no respect for basic human rights and the rule of fair and just laws.

Golden Rule Thinking IS GOOD

Our land and resources are being gobbled up for AI data centers for what purpose? Is it for the greater good of tax paying citizens- or is it to feed the greed of corporations and companies that already use our data to charge us as much as they can at every turn.

Real freedom, justice, and democracy are being embezzled by corporate greed and political corruption to empower Israel and war.

"ISRAEL SAYS" is not God talking.

Israel has a right to exist, but Israel has no right to starve and displace the men, women and children of historic Palestine.

The vast majority of Americans are not wealthy & the taxes that We The People pay are being diverted into funding religious bigotry and terror via Israel's cruel war on the native non-Jewish men, women, and children of historic Palestine. HAMAS cruelty and stupidity echoes Zionist cruelty and stupidity and on and on it goes. Neither approach will build peace or security.

The weapons industry and a global war machine- AND INJUSTICE- burgeon with American tax payer funds.

Violence is a problem- not the answer.

"The United Nations is the only place on Earth where all the world's nations come together to discuss common problems and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity. Karl Stojka was 12 when the Nazis initiated mass deportations of thousands of Austrian Sinti and Roma to Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1943. He was arrested at his school right in the middle of a lesson and sent to the concentration camp with his family. There, he was known as “Z-5742”, a serial number tattooed on his left forearm. Z stood for “Zigeuner”, or “Gypsy” in German. Karl was assigned to work in the canteen, which allowed him to occasionally sneak some leftovers off the table to his family – a huge relief amidst starvation. When the news about the Soviet army approaching started to spread in the summer of 1944, Karl, his mother, brother and sisters – those deemed fit for continuous labour to exhaustion – were deported to other camps.

We know the story of Karl and his family because, on 2 August 1944, they were fortunate to escape death. That was the day the so-called “Gypsy family camp” in Auschwitz-Birkenau ceased to exist – and not because it had been liberated. That night, thousands of its Roma and Sinti prisoners never were able to experience freedom again because they were killed in the camp’s gas chambers. Karl’s uncle Lulo, his wife, and three children were among these victims.

Some 500,000 Roma people were systematically persecuted and murdered by the Nazi regime, its allies and collaborators during the Second World War. Many more were subjected to criminal medical experiments, forced labour and torture. The Roma genocide is still under-researched and widely unknown by the general public, often leading to denial and distortion of facts about this dark chapter of history.  For decades following the war, the Roma were not recognized as victims of Nazi persecution and the crimes committed against them remained unacknowledged.

After the liberation, Karl Stojka and his sister Ceija both became famous artists. They used their visibility to actively campaign for the importance of learning and acknowledging the facts about the crimes perpetrated against Roma and Sinti communities during World War II. Along with other activists, they also reminded that the Roma genocide didn’t spring out of nowhere: a centuries-long history of anti-Roma racism and discrimination could have laid the grounds for these atrocities... Nagasaki’s twin bells ring in unison for first time in 80 years to mark atomic bombing. Mayor of Japanese city used the anniversary of US bombing to urge the world to stop armed conflicts, warning nuclear war was ‘looming’ over everyone

Twin cathedral bells rang in unison in Nagasaki for the first time in 80 years on Saturday, commemorating the moment the city was destroyed by an American atomic bomb.

The two bells rang out at Immaculate Conception cathedral, also called the Urakami cathedral, at 11.02am, the moment the bomb was dropped on 9 August 1945, three days after a nuclear attack on Hiroshima.

The imposing redbrick building, with its twin bell towers atop a hill, was rebuilt in 1959 after it was almost completely destroyed in the monstrous explosion just a few hundred metres away. Only one of its two bells was recovered from the rubble, leaving the northern tower silent. With funds from US churchgoers, a new bell was constructed and restored to the tower.

After heavy downpours on Saturday morning, the rain stopped shortly before a moment of silence and ceremony in which Nagasaki mayor Shiro Suzuki urged the world to “stop armed conflicts immediately”

Eighty years have passed, and who could have imagined that the world would become like this?” he said. “A crisis that could threaten the survival of humanity, such as a nuclear war, is looming over each and every one of us living on this planet.

About 74,000 people were killed in the south-western port city, on top of the 140,000 killed in Hiroshima.

Days later, on 15 August 1945, Japan surrendered, marking the end of the second world war.

Historians have debated whether the bombings ultimately saved lives by bringing an end to the conflict and averting a ground invasion. But those calculations meant little to survivors, known as hibakusha, many of whom battled decades of physical and psychological trauma, as well as stigma.... Hiroshima’s fading legacy: the race to secure survivors’ memories amid a new era of nuclear brinkmanship

At 8:15am on 6 August, the Enola Gay, a US B-29 bomber, dropped a nuclear bomb on the city. “Little Boy” detonated about 600 metres from the ground, with a force equivalent to 15,000 tonnes of TNT. Between 60,000 and 80,000 people were killed instantly, with the death toll rising to 140,000 by the end of the year as victims succumbed to burns and illnesses caused by acute exposure to radiation.

Three days later, the Americans dropped a plutonium bomb on Nagasaki, killing 74,000. And on 15 August, a demoralised Japan surrendered, bringing an end to the second world war... READ MORE https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/aug/05/hiroshima-atomic-bomb-80-year-anniversary-survivors

OPEN THE GATES!

STOP THE SIEGE- stop funding Israeli checkpoints & the forced displacement, imprisonment, starvation, torture, and killing of human beings in Gaza and Palestine.

FYI:  GHF is a totally cruel and dangerous Israeli tactic aimed to further target and destroy the people of historic Palestine and UNWRA - international law- and The United Nations.

Hitler's Nazi Holocaust and World War II killed more than 60 million people - did they all die in vain, not for freedom or the rule of fair and just laws and human decency and dignity but for land grabbing Israel so that Zionism can step up to rule planet earth and our skies with brute force, bombs, land grabs, and poisonous propaganda all aimed at gathering more funds and oil fields.

Do not trust Israel!

"If the UN is allowed to fail or is so diminished that its agencies cannot fully function, there is nothing to take its place. Nothing, that is, except the law of the jungle, as seen in Gaza and other conflict zones where UN agencies are excluded, aid workers murdered and legal norms flouted. The UN system has many failings, some self-inflicted. But a world without the UN would, for most people in most places, be more dangerous, hungrier, poorer, unhealthier and less sustainable." The UN is our best defence against a third world war. As Trump wields the axe, who will fight to save it?

Simon Tisdall
If the US cuts off the cash it will have world-changing effects, but it’s not the only country falling short in its obligations to the United Nations

Trump’s abolition of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and scrapping of most aid programmes, has already badly damaged UN-led and UN-backed humanitarian operations, which rely on discretionary funding. Yet Trump’s axe symbolises a more fundamental threat – to multilateralism and the much-battered international rules-based order. The basic concept of collective responsibility for maintaining global peace and security, and collaboration in tackling shared problems – embodied by the UN since its creation 80 years ago last week – is on the chopping block.

The stakes are high – and Washington is not the only villain. Like the US, about 40 countries are behind in paying obligatory yearly dues. Discretionary donations are declining. The UN charter, a statement of founding principles, has been critically undermined by failure to halt Russia’s illegal war of aggression in Ukraine (and by last month’s US-Israeli attack on Iran). China and others, including the UK, ignore international law when it suits. The number and longevity of conflicts worldwide is rising; UN envoys are sidelined; UN peacekeeping missions are disparaged. The security council is often paralysed by vetoes; the general assembly is largely powerless. By many measures, the UN isn’t working.

A crunch looms. If the UN is allowed to fail or is so diminished that its agencies cannot fully function, there is nothing to take its place. Nothing, that is, except the law of the jungle, as seen in Gaza and other conflict zones where UN agencies are excluded, aid workers murdered and legal norms flouted. The UN system has many failings, some self-inflicted. But a world without the UN would, for most people in most places, be more dangerous, hungrier, poorer, unhealthier and less sustainable.... Dear America- Slavery, Segregation and Forced Displacement are wrong. Wrong then and wrong now.

Ahmed, a young Gazan, wrote a letter to UNRWA sharing his thoughts with us just a few days into the ceasefire.
Dear America - letter I just sent to my elected leaders,

WWII had cheerful music and fun fashion, but hidden behind all that positive public energy was a very evil side called SEGREGATION where Blacks were horrifically discriminated against.

When WWII ended America remained a very racist nation. All the Western World was:  Hitler took segregation too far with his death camps, but we did not go to war against Hitler to stop segregation. Our military was segregated at the time.

The beginning to end segregation was shaped by the post WWII creation of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the wake of the Nazi Holocaust.  Jewish people were assured their inalienable Right to Return to original homes and lands in Europe... BUT Israel has never ever respected this same inalienable Right to Return to the native non-Jewish men, women and children of historic Palestine.

Slavery, Segregation and Forced Displacement are wrong.  Wrong then and wrong now.  One of the cruelest chapters in American History was called "The Trail of Tears" when during the 1830- 1850s the indigenous native Americans were forced to walk away from their ancestral homes and lands. This Forced Exile was shaped by President Andrew Jackson in 1930 when he signed into law the "Indian Removal Act'.  Many men, women and children suffered and died on the way away.

Slavery was also "legal" at the time, but it was wrong then and wrong now.

U.S. workers paying taxes are currently forced to be wage slaves for Israel.  I object.  So do many well-informed college students and protestors worldwide who are horrified by Israel's flagrant violations of international law and basic human rights.  But that is hard for American politicians and CEOs to comprehend because our mainstream media promotes Israeli propaganda instead of American ideals of equality, justice, and liberty for ALL.

Don't let "the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination" cripple peace and the rule of fair and just laws here or there.

The billions annually given by U.S. to defend Israel's segregated delusions of democracy are being seriously misspent on making a bad situation worse.

Sincerely,

Anne Selden Annab

It is not some smart military strategy; it was and continues to be another way of terrorising the people of Gaza.

Systematic Oppression by Israel

UN Palestinian Rights Committee Bureau welcomes Gaza ceasefire, demands full implementation and move towards a solution of the conflict, and condemns Israel’s UNRWA ban perpetuating Palestinian suffering

Segregation is the act or process of separating individuals or groups based on characteristics such as race, class, or ethnicity, often resulting in unequal treatment and access to resources. It can occur through enforced laws or voluntary actions, leading to distinct living, educational, and social conditions for different groups.

State Sponsored Segregation is OPPRESSION and INJUSTICE

In 1948 United Nations Mediator Count Folke Bernadotte pointed out that "IT WOULD BE AN OFFENCE AGAINST THE PRINCIPLES OF JUSTICE IF THOSE INNOCENT VICTIMS [Palestinian men, women, & children] COULD NOT RETURN TO THEIR HOMES WHILE [Zionist] IMMIGRANTS FLOWED INTO PALESTINE TO TAKE THEIR PLACE"

2 years later

UNWRA the United Nations agency to provide education, healthcare, relief and social services to officially displaced Palestinian refugees began operations 1 May 1950.

75 year later & counting Israeli racism, injustice, supremacism, and violence is only becoming more entrenched and dangerous.

"For Israel to unilaterally ban Unrwa operations in the occupied Palestinian territories in a period of unparalleled deprivation and social need, following 15 months of total siege and constant bombardment in Gaza and relentless military and settler aggression in the West Bank, is immoral, illegal and inhumane." Stephen McCloskey

Anne Frank 1929-1945 + Hind Rajab 2018-2024... NEVER AGAIN MEANS NEVER AGAIN FOR ANYONE

2018 UNWRA spokesman Sami Mshasha "There are [Israeli] think tanks, researchers and specialists whose aim is to undermine the agency," he told Middle East Eye.

The United States, European countries, and other major donors must re-evaluate their concerns about the UN’s agency for Palestine refugees in light of the imperative to aid vulnerable populations and take immediate steps to renew funding for UNRWA’s vital humanitarian mission amidst the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

"It's outlandish that a Member State of the UN system would choose to undo the mandate of an organisation, which is mandated by the UN General Assembly."

The UK, France & Germany urge Israel to abide by its international obligations & ensure humanitarian access. No entity can replace @UNRWA’s critical role.

"A humanitarian official told CNN that organizations are concerned about foreign powers like China and Russia using the US aid freeze to increase their own soft power overseas. And there are concerns that non-state actors, like terrorist groups and child soldier recruiters, could gain influence in areas where US funding currently supports refugee camps, the official highlighted."

Please do not demonize and silence or destroy people who speak out peacefully against corruption, injustice, racism, bigotry, and violence of every type.
