300+ writers, scholars and public figures – including almost 150 past New York Times contributors – have committed to refusing to write for the paper’s Opinion section until the paper 

 

1) addresses it's anti-Palestinian bias, 

 

2) retracts the widely debunked investigation “Screams Without Words.” and 

 

3) and calls for a U.S. arms embargo of Israel. 

 

The Opinion section is where the paper creates plausible deniability for its anti-Arab racism and its complicity in genocide. 

 

And while they treat the lies of the Israeli government as fact in their News section, they render the genocide debatable and relegate it to the Opinion page. But the section is nothing without the freelance contributors who write for it--and they are choosing integrity over prestige.

Prominent Jewish figures around the world are calling on the United Nations and world leaders to impose sanctions on Israel over what they describe as “unconscionable” actions amounting to genocide in Gaza.

460 signatories, including former Israeli officials, Oscar winners, authors and intellectuals have signed an open letter demanding accountability over Israel’s conduct in Gaza, the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. The letter’s release comes as EU leaders meet in Brussels on Thursday amid reports they plan to shelve proposals for sanctions over human rights violations.

“We do not forget that so many of the laws, charters, and conventions established to safeguard and protect all human life were created in response to the Holocaust,” the signatories write. “Those safeguards have been relentlessly violated by Israel.”

Signatories include former speaker of the Israeli Knesset Avraham Burg, former Israeli peace negotiator Daniel Levy, British author Michael Rosen, Canadian author Naomi Klein, Oscar-winning film-maker Jonathan Glazer, US actor Wallace Shawn, Emmy winners Ilana Glazer and Hannah Einbinder, and Pulitzer prize winner Benjamin Moser.

The signatories urge world leaders to uphold international court of justice (ICJ) and international criminal court rulings, avoid complicity in international law violations by halting arms transfers and imposing targeted sanctions, ensure adequate humanitarian aid to Gaza, and reject false claims of antisemitism against those advocating for peace and justice.

“We bow our heads in immeasurable sorrow as the evidence accumulates that Israel’s actions will be judged to have met the legal definition of genocide,” the letter reads.

Dr. Aziz: “This is a stain on our humanity. I’m ashamed to call myself human… we need absolute, unimpeded medical aid and an arms embargo now.”

 Australian Doctors in Gaza: “Healthcare Is Not Collapsing — It Has Collapsed” Dr. Nada Abu Alrub and Dr. Saya Aziz, two Australian doctors volunteering in northern Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital, have released a harrowing video describing mass death under relentless bombardment.

After an eight-hour trip north, Dr. Abu Alrub described “bombing after bombing with Apaches, F-35s, F-16s, drones — weapons attacking us from everywhere. The number of patients and the number of dead bodies arriving are ridiculous.”

“We are hardly surviving… no soap, no gloves, nothing at all. We’re treating patients on the floor — mass casualty after mass casualty.” 

“Today they bombed just in front of the main entrance of the hospital. Two days ago they did the same. The issue is we live there — our accommodation is within walking distance. So we could be at any time at that side of the bomb. As internationals, we’ve not even been given an evacuation order. We know that we might die at any time.”

Dr. Aziz called the situation “cataclysmic”: operating beds broken, flies swarming theater rooms, no suction, no sterility. “Healthcare is not collapsing — it has collapsed.”
