Gaza must not become a graveyard for international law

Gaza
Gaza is not a prison it is a Concentration Camp - a prison is where prisoners go, the men women and children of Palestine committed no crime.

From The River To The Sea

The popular pro-Palestine chants "Free Palestine and "From The River To The Sea" are not chant to destroy Israel, they are pleas for respect for universal human rights and the rule of fair and just laws. All Israelis and Palestinians must be free to live in peace and security....

WEST BANK

Oct 23, 2023

“Israeli forces are increasingly and brazenly killing Palestinian children throughout the West Bank,” said Ayed Abu Eqtaish, accountability program director at DCIP. “At this moment, there is absolutely no check on Israeli aggression as the international community enables war crimes through the provision of weapons and financial and diplomatic support to ensure Israeli forces and officers enjoy impunity regardless of the gravity of crimes.”

"Under international law, intentional lethal force is only justified in circumstances where a direct threat to life or of serious injury is present. However, investigations and evidence collected by DCIP regularly suggest that Israeli forces use lethal force against Palestinian children in circumstances that may amount to extrajudicial or wilful killings."

What’s the Israel-Palestine conflict about? A simple guide

It’s killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions. And its future lies in its past.   https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/10/9/whats-the-israel-palestine-conflict-about-a-simple-guide

I’m a Palestinian citizen of Israel. Right now, that’s as complex as you could possibly imagine

Maria Rashed

Let’s be clear: one can support Palestinians’ right to resist and end the occupation without supporting Hamas

"One thing that unites Palestinians is that our journey is never easy or smooth. To be a Palestinian citizen in Israel is exceptionally challenging – especially at the moment, when people expect you to take a clear, one-sided stance. I am forced to constantly question where I truly belong, feeling nowhere and everywhere simultaneously.

I was born and raised in Nazareth in a Christian family. Later, I moved to Tel Aviv, living in a diverse community with Arabs and Jews. Although I was born in Israel, I struggle to identify fully with a country that views me as a second-class citizen, publicly speaks against Arabs, oppresses Palestinians – and the list goes on."

America: Live Up to Your Own Principles When Dealing with Palestine

I admire the stated principles of the United States of America. I want it to live up to them.

"While Palestinians, like all people under occupation, have an internationally legitimate right to resist their occupiers, the atrocities, whether by Palestinian fighters or others, are wrong, and they need to be called out and condemned. I add my voice without reservation in condemning war crimes against civilians. All humans are created in God’s image, and we are called by our maker to preserve life, not to end it.

Fairness and equality, however, require that everyone who has demanded the condemnation of acts by nonstate actors like Hamas must also be willing to demand the same from state actors.

Hamas committed war crimes, according to Amnesty International Secretary-General Agnès Callamard. But experts say that Israel’s blockade of Gaza and ordered evacuation violate international law as well. “Collective punishment is a war crime. Israel is doing that by cutting electricity, water, food, blocking aid from entering the Gaza Strip,” said Human Rights Watch’s Omar Shakir."
