My letter to the Washington Post RE "Israel confronts flagging interest in military service"

Dear Editor,

"Since Israel's founding, the military here has served not just as a defender against outside threats, but as the glue that brings together a patchwork nation of immigrants."

Was your article "Israel confronts flagging interest in military service" written in hopes of helping recruit more Americans for Israel's army?

An attempt perhaps to inspire more immigrants and foreign invaders to become the patchwork that has been usurping Palestinian land, rights and life for the past sixty years... If so I very much hope that both your 'pro-Israel' readers as well as your 'pro-Palestine' readers realize independently that being fuel for the ongoing Israel/Palestine conflict only makes matters worse: Advocating and implementing a fully secular two state solution based on full respect for international law and universal basic human rights to end the conflict ASAP for everyone's sake is the only way to create a just and lasting peace.

Sincerely,
Anne Selden Annab
