My letter to the LATimes RE Palestinians who see nonviolence as their weapon

A Palestinian shepherd walks with his herd near the Jewish settlement of Tekoa located southeast to the West Bank Palestinian city of Bethlehem, Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009. The Palestinians on Sunday accused Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton of undermining progress toward Mideast peace talks after she praised Israel for offering to curb some Jewish settlement construction. After meeting Israeli and Palestinian leaders during a visit Saturday, Clinton called for an unconditional resumption of peace talks and welcomed Israel's offer for a slowdown in settlement activity. Dear Editor,

I TOTALLY agree that non-violence is the best way forward for the besieged men, women and children of Palestine. Mohammed Khatib is quite wise to point out that "Israel is trying to crush nonviolent activists because it would rather take on an armed insurgency".

For everyone's sake we need to be noticing that Apartheid Israel wants to push people away from supporting Palestine and peace: Escalating injustice, violence and hate empower all the worst aspects of the conflict- allowing the Apartheid aspect of Israel to thrive, rather than the rule of fair and just laws.

Sincerely,
Anne Selden Annab
