Dear America- Israel says it wants the hostages but what Israel has wanted all along is yet another an excuse to grab all the land of historic Palestine and beyond.

"This time of year, children in #Gaza should be preparing for school — choosing backpacks, sharpening pencils, dreaming of the year ahead. Instead, they search for water, queue for food, and shelter in classrooms turned into crowded refuges. Children in Gaza have lost three years of schooling risking to become a lost generation. We need a #ceasefire now." @UNRWA

Dear America,

HAMAS and Israel are two peas in a pod- both arm religion and both use violence, terror and harassment to get what they want. However there are 2 big differences:

#1. Israel is a lot smarter than HAMAS. Israel knows how to use everything to its advantage, including using every armed Palestinian attack or insult as a reason to invade and destroy whatever Israel wants to invade and destroy.

Israel has extensive outreach with the ability to convince outsiders that they are in the right even when they are very much in the wrong.  For instance Israel has been deploying false accusations against UNRWA in order to

A. Block UNRWA aid and aid workers from entering Gaza.

B. To convince the U.S.A. to stop funding UNRWA.

C. To have an excuse to bomb refugee camps and Arab cities: Gaza now, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria next, enabling Israel to expand its Occupation and violations of international law in every direction.

UNRWA is the United Nations Relief Works Agency that aids, feeds, and educates Palestinian refugees, and helps keep them alive. UNRWA works.  That is why Israel wants to destroy it.

Israel knows how to manufacture consent for genocide in multiple ways...

In 2024 the U.S.A. gave Israel $23 billion dollars in military aid to Israel.

Which brings us to point #2. Israel is a heavily armed formal military with tons of sophisticated weaponry, an air force with jet fighters, drones, tanks, full control of all borders, extensive surveillance equipment, and an exceptionally talented PR department whereas Hamas is a relatively powerless small terrorist group with few weapons whose leadership lives comfortably far away from Gaza.

Israel says it wants the hostages but what Israel has wanted all along is yet another an excuse to grab all the land of historic Palestine and beyond.

Land for Peace for Palestine was a dismal failure.  Oslo helped Israel gain funds and support, and cover for continuing its war on the men, women, and children of historic Palestine.

Children are starving and dying in Gaza.  Israel with its mainstream media minions have Americans convinced that HAMAS is to blame for this crisis because armed militants are stealing all the food.

Islamists are tools in Israel's arsenal: HAMAS really should return all the hostages ASAP, and they should lay down all their weaponry.

Give up on violence- but do not ever give up on shaping the rule of fair and just laws, for everyone's sake.

America needs to set the right example by refusing to escalate a global arms race.  We should be investing in peace and the people's needs- not Israeli violence, corruption, and greed.

Sincerely,

Anne Selden Annab

STOP THE SIEGE- stop funding crazy cruel Israeli schemes & the forced displacement, imprisonment, starvation, torture, and killing of human beings in Gaza and Palestine.

For almost 6 months, no shelter supplies have been allowed into Gaza. About 90% of people are displaced, living in overcrowded conditions. Existing shelters have deteriorated or been left behind amid repeated forced displacements. Further displacement will overwhelm an already catastrophic shelter situation. Türk says Gaza Governorate famine is direct result of Israeli Government actions

22 August 2025

United Nations Human Rights Chief Volker Türk in Geneva

The famine declared today in Gaza Governorate by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) is the direct result of actions taken by the Israeli Government. It has unlawfully restricted the entry and distribution of humanitarian assistance and other goods necessary for the survival of the civilian population in the Gaza strip.

We have already seen deaths from starvation and malnutrition across the strip.  The Israeli military has destroyed critical civilian infrastructure and almost all agricultural land, banned fishing, and forcibly displaced the population – all drivers of this famine.

It is a war crime to use starvation as a method of warfare, and the resulting deaths may also amount to the war crime of willful killing. Israeli authorities must take immediate steps to end the famine in the Gaza Governorate and prevent further loss of life across the Gaza strip. They [Israel] must ensure immediate entry of humanitarian assistance in sufficient amounts, and full access to UN and other humanitarian organisations.

Israel has dismantled the proven and internationally backed ‘civilian model’ of aid distribution, furthering its military and objectives in Gaza and furthering starvation, according to a newly published joint report by Forensic Architecture (FA) and the World Peace Foundation (WPF).

Israel has furthered starvation with 'military model' of aid distribution, according to new joint-report

Israel has dismantled the proven and internationally backed ‘civilian model’ of aid distribution, furthering its military and objectives in Gaza and furthering starvation, according to a newly published joint report by Forensic Architecture (FA) and the World Peace Foundation (WPF).

The report by the research agency and charity respectively– published today at the same time as the UN-backed body, IPC confirmed Famine in Gaza – examines two models for aid distribution in Gaza, revealing how since 18 March 2025, Israel has dismantled the proven and internationally backed ‘civilian model’ of aid distribution, replacing it with a ‘military model’ which furthers Israel’s military and political objectives in Gaza while starving the region’s civilian population.

FA verified at least 64 incidents occurring between 18 March and 1 August of civilians being attacked by the Israeli military while seeking aid, including 25 incidents at and around Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. ration stations.

It concludes that Israel has used aid to break down existing social and civil structures in Gaza, grounded in relations between family networks, political groups, and international aid organisations, to generate dependency and, as a result, to establish political control over the Palestinian population.

Eyal Weizman, director of Forensic Architecture said

Aid can be lethal when used in a manipulative way. We have unpacked the architecture of starvation imposed by Israel in Gaza.

It is composed of acts of construction and destruction: the destruction of Palestinian agriculture and food sovereignty, the destruction of Palestinian civil society, and the construction of death traps.’

Alex de Waal, executive director of the World Peace Foundation (WPF) added:

‘The dehumanisation of Palestinians, the stripping of basic dignity, and the tearing apart of the fabric of the community are not accidental byproducts of the mass starvation inflicted on the people of Gaza.

There is every reason to believe that these are what Israel intends through its militarised ration system.’ ....READ MORE

Gaza’s journalists are talented, professional and dignified. That’s why Israel targets them- Nesrine Malik in The Guardian

Recent killings have dazed the world and provoked condemnation. But little is said about the calibre of Palestinian journalism

The first time I met Al Jazeera’s Gaza team lead, Tamer Almisshal, was in July last year. His team had already buried two journalists, Hamza al-Dahdouh and Samer Abu Daqqa. The rest, he told me, were hungry. They were also dealing with trying to get hold of protective gear, threats from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the killing of family members. Ismail al-Ghoul hadn’t seen his wife and child in months and was missing them intensely. Hossam Shabat, Mohammed Qraiqea and Anas al-Sharif were asking for time to secure food in the morning before they could start reporting. Today, they are all dead.

I spoke with various members of the Gaza team while writing a profile of Gaza’s veteran reporter Wael al-Dahdouh, who lost his wife, three of his children and grandson. All spoke of their work as a duty that needed to be carried out despite the risks. Three members of that team have since been killed in a chain of assassinations. Each time I sent condolences, the response was always that the coverage would not cease. “We are continuing,” the Gaza editor told me last week, after he lost his entire Gaza City team in the targeted strike that claimed the lives of Sharif, Mohammed Nofal, Ibrahim Thaher and Qraiqea. “We will not betray their message, or their last wishes.”

As these killings dazed the world – and the response to them became mired in unproven and in some cases risibly implausible claims that some of these journalists were militants – little has been said about the calibre of journalism in Gaza. How fluent, articulate and poised its journalists are under impossible circumstances. How much they manage to capture horrific events and pain on a daily basis, in a journalistic Arabic that they have perfected to an art, while maintaining a professional, collected presence on camera. How much they manage to keep their cool. I struggled often to translate their words into English, so rich and expansive is their expression. Even Sharif’s final message, a text for the ages, loses some of its power in translation. In it, he addresses those who “choked” our breath, but the word he uses is closer to “besieged” – evoking not just physical asphyxiation but the silencing of a surveilled people’s voice.

What strikes me when I speak with journalists in and from Gaza is how evangelical and heartbreakingly idealistic they are; how much journalism to them was a duty even if it meant certain death. All who have been killed had a choice... READ MORE https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/aug/18/israel-gaza-war-journalist-killed-safety-al-jazeera
