Israel Deports Father Nadino Capovilla

Khader El-Yateem

🇵🇸✝️ OUTRAGEOUS: Israel Deports Father Nadino Capovilla

Once again, the Israeli government reveals its fear — not of violence, but of truth. Father Nadino Capovilla, a globally respected priest from Venice, a man of peace and justice, has been denied entry into the Holy Land. Detained for hours at Tel Aviv airport and ultimately deported on vague claims of “national security,” his only real “threat” was his unwavering commitment to human rights, justice, healing, and reconciliation.

Father Nadino traveled with Pax Christi, a delegation seeking dialogue and solidarity with communities impacted by war and occupation. His crime? Standing with the oppressed. Speaking truth. Advocating for peace.

Let’s be honest: this was not about security. This was about silencing a voice that exposes the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the apartheid policies, the daily humiliation of Palestinians, and the escalating violence against the Christian and Muslim communities alike.

Israel, which calls itself “the only democracy in the Middle East,” is clearly terrified of those who carry a message of justice. If a respected Italian priest had been treated this way by any other country, our governments and media would be up in arms. But when Israel acts, there is silence — even when priests are spat on in the streets of Jerusalem.

We must name it. This is not democracy. This is repression. This is apartheid. This is genocide.

✊ From Palestine, and from all corners of the world that still believe in dignity and human rights, I stand in full solidarity with Father Nadino Capovilla. May his message grow louder in the face of those who try to silence him.

United Nations says families, a generation being ‘wiped out’ by Israel’s war on Gaza- Malnutrition from Israeli-induced starvation, & Israeli strikes kill dozens of Palestinians as journalists are deliberately targeted.

Five more Palestinians, including a child, have died of malnutrition as a result of Israel’s punishing blockade of Gaza in the past 24 hour reporting period, the Health Ministry has said, as people in the enclave and many beyond its besieged borders mourned several journalists assassinated by Israel.

The ministry on Monday said most of these victims died in the past three weeks, as Israel-imposed starvation engulfs the entire population, with the total number of severe hunger deaths now at 222, including 101 children.

The Palestinian Wafa news agency later reported the death from malnutrition of an additional child, five-year-old Mohammed Zakaria Khader, bringing the overall death toll in the past 24 hours to six.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, said “children in Gaza are dying from starvation and bombardments”.

“Entire families, neighbourhoods, and a generation are being wiped out,” the UN agency wrote in a post on social media. “Inaction and silence are complicity. It’s time for statements to turn into action and for an immediate ceasefire.”

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) said that hunger and malnutrition levels in Gaza are the highest ever recorded, with more than one-third of the population going without food for days at a time and 500,000 people on the brink of famine.

The agency said Gaza must be “flooded” with large-scale food assistance to avert further catastrophe.

At least 46 Palestinians were killed in Israeli raids across Gaza since dawn on Monday, including six aid seekers, medical sources have told Al Jazeera.

In one of the latest attacks, the al-Aqsa Hospital reported the killing of four Palestinians by Israeli forces in the south and east of Deir el-Balah, central Gaza.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said three civilians were killed and others were injured in an Israeli attack on the Zeitoun neighbourhood of southern Gaza City.

Meanwhile, on a daily basis, Israeli forces and US contractors are continuing to kill Palestinians desperately seeking aid at distribution points run by the controversial United States and Israeli-backed GHF.

Among those killed on Sunday was Ismail Qandil’s son. Speaking at the al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, Qandil told Al Jazeera that his son was unarmed and was looking for food when he was killed.

“He had no bullets, no weapon to shoot with. What did we do? What did we do for this to happen to us? Enough with the hunger and genocide,” he said.

“We are in a famine. We are being slaughtered. We can’t carry on. We send our sons to bring food, and they kill them. We are not members of the resistance, and we are not members of movements or anything. We are being destroyed.”

‘If these words reach you … Israel has succeeded in killing me’: the last words of a journalist killed in Gaza Anas al-Sharif

The following statement was posthumously published on Anas al-Sharif’s X account, after an attack on a tent for journalists near al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City. Seven people in total were killed including al-Sharif, the Al Jazeera correspondent Mohammed Qreiqeh, and camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moamen Aliwa, according to Al Jazeera.  https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/aug/11/anas-al-sharif-al-jazeera-journalist-killed-gaza-israeli-airstrike

This is my will and my final message. If these words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice.

First, peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings. Allah knows I gave every effort and all my strength to be a support and a voice for my people, ever since I opened my eyes to life in the alleys and streets of the Jabaliya refugee camp. My hope was that Allah would extend my life so I could return with my family and loved ones to our original town of occupied Asqalan (al-Majdal). But Allah’s will came first, and His decree is final.

I have lived through pain in all its details, tasted suffering and loss many times, yet I never once hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without distortion or falsification – so that Allah may bear witness against those who stayed silent, those who accepted our killing, those who choked our breath, and whose hearts were unmoved by the scattered remains of our children and women, doing nothing to stop the massacre that our people have faced for more than a year and a half.

I entrust you with Palestine – the jewel in the crown of the Muslim world, the heartbeat of every free person in this world. I entrust you with its people, with its wronged and innocent children who never had the time to dream or live in safety and peace. Their pure bodies were crushed under thousands of tons of Israeli bombs and missiles, torn apart and scattered across the walls. I urge you not to let chains silence you, nor borders restrain you. Be bridges toward the liberation of the land and its people, until the sun of dignity and freedom rises over our stolen homeland.

I entrust you to take care of my family. I entrust you with my beloved daughter, Sham, the light of my eyes, whom I never got the chance to watch grow up as I had dreamed. I entrust you with my dear son, Salah, whom I had wished to support and accompany through life until he grew strong enough to carry my burden and continue the mission. I entrust you with my beloved mother, whose blessed prayers brought me to where I am, whose supplications were my fortress and whose light guided my path. I pray that Allah grants her strength and rewards her on my behalf with the best of rewards.

I also entrust you with my lifelong companion, my beloved wife, Umm Salah (Bayan), from whom the war separated me for many long days and months. Yet she remained faithful to our bond, steadfast as the trunk of an olive tree that does not bend – patient, trusting in Allah, and carrying the responsibility in my absence with all her strength and faith. I urge you to stand by them, to be their support after Allah Almighty.

If I die, I die steadfast upon my principles. I testify before Allah that I am content with His decree, certain of meeting Him, and assured that what is with Allah is better and everlasting. O Allah, accept me among the martyrs, forgive my past and future sins, and make my blood a light that illuminates the path of freedom for my people and my family. Forgive me if I have fallen short, and pray for me with mercy, for I kept my promise and never changed or betrayed it.

Do not forget Gaza. And do not forget me in your sincere prayers for forgiveness and acceptance.

Dear America- Please no more Israeli GHF killing fields or other such Zionist schemes that aim to further harass and destroy the native non-Jewish population of historic Palestine.

Anas Al-Sharif- Palestinian journalist for Al Jazeera & yet another reporter targeted and killed by Israel.
 Dear America,

How many more journalists will Israel kill and then lie about why before you catch on to the fact that Israel lies?

How many more international laws and United Nations Resolutions will Israel violate day after day, decade after decade...

How much more graft and corruption will occur before our CEOs, our movie stars, our newspaper editors, our religious advisors, and our elected leaders catch on to the fact that Israel freely interferes with American elections, our mainstream media, our schools and colleges, our intelligence, our computer systems, etc... - sabotaging our democracy.

Israeli cruelty and Zionist lies are endless.  So is the suffering of children being starved to death by Israel's remorseless occupation.

Israel lies about UNRWA in order to destroy UNRWA and the Palestinian refugees that Israel has been forcibly displacing since 1948. Year after year more Palestinian men, women, and children are displaced and pushed into forced exile.

Israel could have and should have welcomed home all the Palestinian refugees long ago.   Until it does The United Nations and  UNWRA are the best option. Please no more Israeli GHF killing fields or other such Zionist schemes that aim to further harass and destroy the native non-Jewish population of historic Palestine.

Israel FIBS, deceives, misinforms, and deploys both bombs and propaganda in order to mislead insiders and outsiders.

Please FREE PALESTINE and free us all from being wage slaves aiding and abetting a huge crime against humanity.

Sincerely,

Anne Selden Annab

The Israel Lobby comes in many forms, and I suspect Israeli bribes do too. So in a way American funds sent to support Israel come back in the form of an information war on America, aimed at gathering more funds and lethal weaponry so that Israel can continue USURPING land, rights, and peace... and Occupation Forces can continue harassing and harming any who dare object to such blatant injustice and violence.

"Settlers" is too kind a word and too antiquated a word to properly express what modern Israeli "settlers" do.   They are heavily armed usurpers protected and empowered by a very powerful military machine that is funded in part by American taxpayers.

"Settlers" are what people were generations ago, long before international law and The Universal Declaration of Human Rights which  emerged after the horrors of the Nazi Holocaust.  Israeli USURPERS steal land, rights, and peace.  They also steal the story and twist the facts. So far they have managed to convince American leadership to undermine and de-fund UNWRA and UNESCO.  We should be defending UNRWA and UNESCO, not de-funding them.

Peace and Security

The UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) has warned that the Gaza Strip faces a “catastrophic” humanitarian crisis, with no agency aid allowed in for more than five months and malnutrition deaths climbing sharply.

“For over 150 days, not a single truck from UNRWA has been permitted to deliver food, medicine or other essentials into Gaza,” the agency said on Friday. “This denial of access is costing lives every single day.”

Nearly 100 children dead from malnutrition

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, cited by the UN, at least 61,158 Palestinians have been killed and more than 151,000 injured since October, amid relentless Israeli bombardment and ground operations.

Tweet URL

UNRWA said nearly 350 of its own staff are among the dead since Israel’s military operation in Gaza began following the 7 October 2023 Hamas-led terror attacks.

Many civilians have been killed while sheltering in schools or tents, or while queuing for food.

Food insecurity is now acute. UN data show 193 people — including 96 children — have died from malnutrition since the start of August, with July seeing the highest monthly rate of acute malnutrition recorded in children under five.

Soaring prices

Wheat flour prices have soared by up to 15,000 per cent compared to pre-war levels. “Sustained, large-scale deliveries are the only way to stabilise food supplies and prices,” UNRWA stressed.

Health services are close to collapse. More than half of essential medical supplies are already out of stock, and hospitals have been forced to ration fuel for generators. UNRWA teams have nevertheless managed over 1.5 million health consultations since March, but “without resupply, our ability to save lives is dwindling,” the agency warned.

Vast scale of displacement

Displacement is on a vast scale: 1.9 million people — around 90 per cent of Gaza’s population — have been forced from their homes, many repeatedly. Nearly 100,000 are crammed into over 60 UNRWA-run shelters.

In the northern Israeli-occupied West Bank, around 30,000 people from Nur Shams, Tulkarm and Jenin refugee camps remain unable to return home due to Israel’s “Iron Wall” military operation, ongoing since January.

The agency urged immediate, unhindered humanitarian access. “We need the world to act — to open the crossings, to stop the suffering, and to uphold the most basic principles of humanity,” it said.

The UN Security Council is due to meet in New York in emergency session on Sunday morning local time to discuss the Israeli cabinet's endorsement of a military takeover of Gaza City which is home to around one million Palestinians.
